The Planning Institute of Australia's National Young Planners Group (NYPG) will be hosting the seventh annual national young planner's conference, YPConnect, in March 2011. The event will be held on the waterfront at the Hobart Function and Conference Centre.

YPConnect is an annual event that allows young planners, both students and graduates, to have a voice on a national scale and to participate in professional development specifically targeted at young planning professionals.

This is one conference about you. Designed by young planners to address what matters most. Covering the big issues from wilderness protection to the daily challenges of career advancement and work/ life balance, YPConnect offers the chance to be engaged, enlightened, educated and to enjoy a beer afterwards.

For me personally, YPConnect always exceeds my expectations. It is the platform for young planners across Australia to share their passion for planning better places and develop solutions to the challenges that we all face.

YPConnect is held in association with the Planning Institute of Australia's National Congress "Critical Mass: Planning engages the world", which will look at the way planning interacts and engages with the world and listen to the perceptions of others about planning and planners.

YPConnect11 will commence with a welcome function on Saturday 5 March followed by a full day conference on Sunday 6 March. The program includes sensational speakers covering topics on planning for wild places, wild events, and navigating your way in a wild workplace.

I can't wait to see you all there,

Mary Bessell
YPConnect Convenor
